Men’s New Life Program
Fostering Sustainable Real Life Change & Healing
Fairhaven’s New Life Program is a long-term, residential homelessness recovery program for men. The NLP provides the opportunity for real life change and healing through the love & grace of God. It’s our goal to share Jesus with our residents and make sure they are fully equipped to live a sustainable, healthy, and spiritually-fulfilling life.
The program is entirely free to those who are enrolled.

The key word here is Sustainable. We walk alongside our program participants to successfully transition them from homelessness to obtaining a career-minded, sustainable job to living an independent and sustainable life.
The NLP is designed to help men who struggle with a variety of life-controlling issues that might include: homelessness, chronic job loss, unhealthy relationships, or other issues. We take the opposite approach of simply telling someone to “get a job.” We require that our participant starts the NLP without a job so that we may focus on them (their health, their emotional state, their reason for homelessness, etc.) and properly develop them for a career-minded job. We assess their needs and, most importantly, their strengths so that we can build them up according to their gifts and talents.
The program consists of a moderate work schedule at the mission and our thrift store, life skills classes, group/individual counseling, and joining a home church. Once participants are ready to enter the workforce – typically halfway into the program – we help them to acquire a full-time, career-minded and sustainable job. They are then required to save 60% of their income in an interest-bearing savings account. They are also counseled and encouraged to tithe 10% of their income. Toward completion, we help our participants to acquire suitable permanent housing. And since we believe discipleship doesn’t end, participants are welcome and encouraged to come back for classes and volunteer at the Mission.
Residents in the NLP are expected to participate in and follow the guidelines in the program. The staff works actively and intentionally to provide an environment that fosters godly maturity in the lives of all its participants. This sort of maturity is the core of our healing process focusing on the growth and development of disciples of Jesus on a daily basis.

A word from program manger Bryon Harvey:
The NLP is a holistic undertaking. We take a “strengths-based” approach to case management, starting where the client is in their walk with the Lord and how they see themselves in relation to God’s plan for their lives. We progress on to find what gifting God the Creator has endowed them with. Instead of operating out of a spirit of lack and despair, we focus on Jesus as our redeemer, and ourselves as active participants in His will.
To God be the glory,
Bryon Harvey
